R1: Mueller too sharp for Harrity today

R1: Nicolas Mueller (Sui) 3-0 Todd Harrity (Usa) 11-4, 11-6, 13-11 (33m)

A solid three-nil win for Swiss Nicolas Mueller over American Todd Harrity …

A typical Nicolas Mueller game bless his Swiss sockets… When he is on, he is on, and when he is out, well, he can come back!

3/3 in the first game, then it’s all about the Swiss, 7 points in a row and 11/4 in 8m. Toddy didn’t adapt maybe, seeing that his game plan to play very fast didn’t work, and we were in the same Swiss Boat in the second, 3/3, 4/4, then 8/5, 11/6 in 10m

A much better game from the American as he started slowing down the pace, and lifting the ball. A bit frustrated, the Swiss made a few errors, from 4/0 down, 9/3 down, 7 points in a row again from there, with poor Toddy not knowing if on which foot to dance as the French say, the Swiss making and unmaking the points with delectation!

Toddy saved a match ball, 10/9, managed to set up a game ball, 11/10 but a few winners coming from the Rocket’s racquet, and it’s 13/11 in 10m…

Todd:  He is a very good player and I couldn’t find a way past him. His attacks were just too sharp and he outplayed me at the front of the court.

Nici : I was very happy with the way I played the two first games, solid squash, I had a good lead in both. There are games I would like to skip, like the third one, but I’m happy with the way I dug in and the fighting spirit I found there.

I worked hard in the break, after I was COVID in January. So I was very happy to be able to compete physically today, I am confident in my body, confident in my squash.
