R2: [9/16] Omar Mosaad (Egy) 3-0 Alan Clyne (Sco) 11-7, 11-7, 11-5 (36m)
Omar Mosaad proves too strong for Alan Clyne as he wins in straight games …
Like Mathieu before, Omar rolled back the years today. Now aged 33 (Alan 34), he was able to play at the speed and intensity he was displaying a few year back, form that took him to world number 4 – he is currently 33.
Despite being from the same generation, Omar and Alan had only played one 5 years ago, when Omar was at his peak, resulting in the 3/0 for the Hammer of Thor.
Today, Omar was just too fast, too accurate for the Scot. First game, Alan was truly unhappy with a few strokes at the business end of the opener, from 4/4, 5/5, 6/6. Alan is not one to complain, and it was truly surprising to see him intervene with the ref.
About the same journey scorewise in the second, 4/4, 5/5, 6/6 until too much coming from the Hammer and it’s again 11/7 in same length, 13m hard work.
In the third, Alan made completely uncharacteristic errors, 5, thanks to the fast pace imposed by his opponent I feel. 10/3 match ball, closing it 11/5 in 7m.
