“We only played a couple of weeks ago in Cleveland and it was really close, I don’t know how I won that day.
“I think it was an improved performance. Both of us made a few errors, it’s really fast off the front wall, and it caused a bit of franticness from both of us. Alex was hitting it quite hard at me and I was panicking a little bit with it and it causes a few errors sometimes because it’s so fast.
“Overall I’m pretty happy and it was a tough match, which is what you expect when you play someone of Alex’s quality.
“It takes a while [to get used to the court]. I think the more matches you get on it the better, but it’s a bit different to other glass courts. It’s very fast, as I said, and it’s quite bright in the middle of the day here, so it’s quite challenging, but it’s the same for both players.
“I always prefer to play on the glass and I enjoyed it, which is good.”
