In the first game, I was flowing and feeling very relaxed, hitting the ball into spafce really well. But then in the second and third, she changed her game plan completely, taking me to the front much earlier and that rushed me, I lost my rhythm.
The ball was very dead in the second and third game, and she took full advantage of it, much better than I did, and that for me is the key of the match. After that third, we changed the ball.
She took a better start in the fourth, I caught up with her but it was a bit too little too late…

“I didn’t find my length from the beginning until the end of the match, so after the first game I just tried to play the ball back deep, go for the volleys and try not to play her game. I also tried to play the critical points better, so I’m glad it went my way.
Tomorrow is a rest day, so I’ll recover from today’s match and will try to play on the glass court tomorrow to find my length better.”
Hollie
I think the key today was that I managed to stay mentally strong especially at the crucial points.
She managed to catch me out a lot with her crosscourt flicks and lobs, I just couldn’t see the ball at all. I have to improve on hitting my targets, and stopping offering opportunities to my opponent. But all credit to her, she went for everything and took her chances.
