2020 Womens Gold Reports REPORTS

QF : Hania’s winning run goes on

QF: [4] Hania El Hammamy (EGY) 3-1 [8] Tesni Evans (WAL)  10-12, 11-7, 11-5, 11-6 (49m)

Another fluid, fair, clean match between two of my girls… Tesni, love her fighting spirit, passion and unorthodox squash. Hania, the Gazelle, fighting to the end, as fair as Tes, both so talented.

It was a strange first game though, as Hania seemed very comfy up 4/0, 9/4, only to lose the opener not able to close her game ball, thanks said Tesni, fighting for every point, and clinching it 12/10 in 12m.

The second is much closer up to 6/6, not a point between them up that then, but Tesni looking a bit late on the ball, and it’s 11/7 in 13m. The third is pretty onesided, 3/1, 7/3, 10/4, 11/5 in 9m, Hania freer than she was the game before. To be noted that up to then, Tes only made 1 error.

The fourth is close to the middle of the game, Hania’s camp is getting nervous, but but from 6/6 it’s all about Hania, who strings the next 5 points, 11/6, 11m.

That’s eight wins in a row for Hania at the CIB Black Ball Open. Anyone betting against her making double figures ?  SC

Tesni

I gave it everything I could today, I left it all out there. But Hania is quality, we saw her coming through and really being established in Black Ball back in March.

I’m definitely disappointed.  I was trying to stick to my game plan – which was imposing my game, slower pace than hers, instead of playing fast pace. And I did that in patches, frustrating her and pushing a few errors out of her, but not long enough, not consistently enough. And then, she actually got quicker and faster!

Hania

First of all, I just want to recover for tomorrow’s match. Of course, while I am watching, I will be trying to figure out their weaknesses and that is something that I really have to do before playing anybody.

“I am coping with a foot problem and I am really happy that I managed to win in four. Tesni is a tough opponent, very talented, very tricky. I really had to stick to my game plan, try to not to run too much and I think in the first game, I was up and then I lost my focus and then she outplayed me.

Definitely a little bit of pressure on me this tournament as defending champion. Definitely tough matches and I am really happy to get through to the semi-finals.
