R1: Baptiste Masotti (Fra) 3-0 Vikram Malhotra (Ind) 11-4, 11-3, 11-4 (19m)
France’s Baptiste Masotti in irresistible form against Vikram Malhotra …
Baptiste :It’s dangerous to play against a player you don’t know that well. I know what have been up to, I know I did a good match against Dessouky here, then I worked hard, I had a good French Nationals, confidence is high.
But then again, you never know when you arrive on the event, it’s not because you play 30m with somebody in warm up you know what to expect. So I was a bit nervous at the start, my length and width were poor, so I decided to take him to the front and move him. He is like Ramy, you never know what to expect really!
Today, not great pleasure to play but I won, sometimes, that’s what you need. Last time, I played superbly against Dessouky, but I lost 3 love!
So it feels good to win.
Sunday, Mohamed. I know he is not going to take me lightly, he is a professional. And I’m going to win, but also to take pleasure in my squash, because the more I see the situation the more I realise how lucky we are. Some people are stuck at home, working remotely, while we are travelling and making a living with what we love passionately.
Like I said, we are very luckyVikram : Whatever is happening, I’m here… Eight months lockdown…
