[2] Olivia Weaver (USA) 3-0 Hana Moataz (EGY) 11-0, 11-8, 11-8 (33m)
Chapeau to Hana to come back fighting from 11/0 in the first game, and producing some great intense squash in the next two games, taking the game to her opponent and even forcing a few errors out of her.
Both game 2 and 3 were very similar as in, close to the business end of the game, 6/6, 7/7, Olivia pushing a bit harder physically at the crucial times, 11/8 in the first game, 11m, and 5/5, 6/6, 7/7, 8/8, same final score, 11/8, 12m.
Hana had a great battle/victory yesterday, physical of course, but mostly mental. Today, the body must have felt a bit sore, but she proved that she’s done the physical work. Only needs to get to those big stages more often IsA….

“The bagel does not happen very often against a player as dangerous as Hana. If you get a lead, you have to runaway with it. I knew after that first game that I had to keep my foot on the gas, obviously, she came back a lot stronger in the second and third and pushed my limits.
“We played once before and I know she is an incredibly talented player and a player on the rise. I’m really happy to get through that in three.
“I think in the second and third she looked to get a little bit more stuck in the rallies. Didn’t take it in at the first opportunity and that made it a lot tougher for me. I’m really pleased though with how I handled my game plan. She had nothing to lose, and there was some pressure on me, so I’m happy to come through it.”
