2024 Reports Round Two

R2: Mohamed ElSherbini 3-1 Baptiste Masotti

Mohamed ElSherbini (EGY) 3-1 [8] Baptiste Masotti (FRA)  5-11, 11-7, 4-1 rtd (28m)

Whereas Baptiste Masotti, the last French Standing in the BlackBall Open seemed to be cruising nicely, his back just seized – apparently the same kind of injury that has been damaging Fares’ career.

Will keep you informed when I have news and if he can make it to Gouna, the Europeans and the Worlds…

“I really didn’t see the injury coming – he was playing very well in the first game, he was moving fine and suddenly something might have happened.

“I’m upset it finished like that because he’s a good friend of mine. We haven’t played in so long, and I was eager to play with him because the last time was in 2019, so a lot has changed, which is why I wanted to play with him today. I hope he gets better soon and we can battle again again.

“A former World champion and World No.1 – I would give Karim Abdel Gawad a 9.5/10! He’s a top player for sure and I just want to come in and enjoy my game and have fun. This has been my dream and what I’ve been dreaming about so I want to enjoy it as it comes.”
