Battle for Top Spot

With three PSA GOLD events coming up in March, there could be some dramatic movements at the top of the World Rankings …

Results at the Black Ball Open could see a change in the Men’s top spot – if Peru’s Diego Elias wins the title with current #1 Mostafa Asal failing to reach the final, the “Peruvian Puma” would become the first ever World #1 from South America !

Elias and Asal are in opposite sides of the draw, so a repeat of their fiery Hong Kong Open final could be on the cards, but Asal has Paul Coll, Marwan ElShorbagy and/or Tarek Momen to contend with first, while Elias will have to get past Ali Farag, Mohamed ElShorbagy and/or Mazen Hesham.

With Canary Wharf and the Optasia Championship, both in London, later in the month, there are bound to be many more permutations after the dust has settled on Black Ball.

For the Women there’s just the one Gold event, and defending Black Ball Champion  Nouran Gohar is certain to stay at #1 whatever the results, but if Hania El Hammamy betters Nour El Sherbini‘s results she will leapfrog Sherbini into second spot.

Stay Tuned !!!
